The Game Developers Conference of 2009 was a blast! I and a group of students and two instructors ventured to the West coast for the three day event of geeky extravaganza. The weather was wonderful, and despite a few hurdles things went smoothly over all.

Things of interest:

I got to see some of the new features of Maya 2009, such as the UV unwrapping and new selection methods. There is also a new feature that allows one to edit the surface geometry without effecting the texture.

3ds Max 2010 looks nice and has new features and issue resolutions from 3dsMax 2009.

I was able to speak with Lucasarts reps about new intern programs evolving this fall and the Jedi Academy student internships that happen over the summer.

Wacom unvieled it's latest product, the Intuos 4 series. I entered the daily drawing contest to win one. I won the contest on the second day!
